Endemic to Morocco and Canary Islands
Synonym: Sonchus acidus Schousboe ex Willd.
The woody perennial Sonchus pinnatififus is a Canarian-Moroccan species which occurs in lower elevation near coastal cliffs in South-Western Morocco, between Safi and oued Draâ. It is a member of the monophyly Woody Sonchus Alliance (Asteraceae: Sonchinae) (Kim 2007).
